Paragliding State of Origin 2024
Dates : Easter : 29th - 31st March 2024
Location : Mt Borah, Manilla NSW.
For the Novice (PG2), it’s a great way to get into competition and XC flying in a fun & safe way, it’s about the promotion of skills and safely. This competition is based on 'Flying Crews' (5 pilot teams, 1 PG5 pilot. & 2 PG2 pilots & then 2 other Pilots), so get your crew together. Handicapping is used for scoring.
IMPORTANT NOTICE : To promote and improve safety in the sport the MSS Club reserves the right to not permit pilots to fly from Mt Borah if they are using a glider above their logged skill level. Generally that means a PG4 pilot with around 80-100hrs logged for a EN-B+, 250hrs for a EN-C and 500hrs for a EN-D and above. If you do not fit the skill level requirement for a certain glider level then you should contact the person who sold you the unsuitable glider for a remedy.
SAFA Competition "C" Grade Sanction.
Requirements : Reserve, UHF Radio and at least 3 hours of Thermalling/XC Flights are required. Thermalling/XC course is recommended.
Entry Fee: $45.00: early bird rego $35.00
Registration: Opens 9:00am AEDT Tuesday 13 February 2024

Pilot Classes:
In previous years there has been debate about the 'EN-B+' glider class. If a brand has 2 (or even 3) gliders certified in EN-B then the ones with the higher aspect ratio are usually the 'B-mid' or 'B+' and require a PG4 and around 80-100hrs experience to safely fly in all conditions. Another way to identify a 'B-mid' and 'B+' is that a standard EN-B is suitable as a first glider for new pilots straight from school who are well skilled, a 'B-mid' or 'B+' is not suitable for such pilots as their first glider. If you have been sold or are flying a High B glider and do not have around 80-100hrs you will not be permitted to fly at Mt Borah.
IMPORTANT NOTICE : To promote safety in the sport the MSS Club reserves the right to not permit pilots to fly from Mt Borah if they are using a glider above their logged skill level.
